I have setup NeoRouter Server and Explorer on PC with XP Media Center
I have setup NeoRouter Explorer on laptop running Vista Home Premium
I can log into NeoRouter using 127.0.0.1, see the attached computers.
I can log into domain from an internet cafe and see all computers and all appear online within NeoRouter Explorer
I cannot select my PC from the list and ping it 10.0.0.1. The request times out.
Yet, I can ping my server without any problems and have done a port check and it is open.

I am running Norton Internet Security 2009 and have disabled the Smart Firewall and the Intrusion Prevention.

Does anyone have any idea what I am missing?

Many Thanks

thanks

Can you double-check if the NeoRouter Connection is up on both the server and your laptop? Using 'ipconfig', you should see the virtual adapter with a virtual ip address.

Which one is 10.0.0.1? XP Media Center? Can you ping it from your laptop directly using it's private ip address instead of virtual IP?

Thanks,

Hi Kevinz,

I have connected my laptop via cable to my router. I can see both my PC (10.0.0.1,Online) and my laptop (10.0.0.2,Online) in my Configuration Explorer on my PC. The PC is running XP Media Center.
On my laptop I logged in using domain as static private ip address of server (192.168.0.3). The PC and laptop are shown as being online with their respective VPN addresses (10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2). If I select DESKTOP from the list on my laptop and ping it (10.0.0.1) the request times out.
Running ipconfig /all on both machines shows the PC has Neorouter connection with IP address as 10.0.0.1 and DHCP disabled. The Laptop has no NeoRouter Connection listed.
The NeoRouter Client service is running on the laptop yet it is an Ethernet Local Area Connection is displayed not a NeoRouter connection in ipconfig /all.

Thanks

Polly

Hi PollyPunter,

It looks incorrect on your laptop. Please re-install NeoRouter client on your laptop to make sure the NeoRouter Connection set properly. When the installer trys to install the tap driver, please accept it.

You can verify the tap status by the following command.

Code:
"C:\Program Files\ZebraNetworkSystems\NeoRouter\Driver\tapinstall.exe" status nrtap

It should show something like this:

Quote:
ROOT\NET\0000
Name: NeoRouter Virtual Network Interface
Driver is running.
1 matching device(s) found.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team

KevinZ,
Thanks for the very prompt reply. I reinstalled NeoRouter on the laptop and I can now ping the desktop and remote desktop over the LAN. Great news.
Next step is to do the same thing from an internet cafe. Will try tomorrow.

thanks again

Polly
