Hi, I try to use Neorouter in a LAN but it make slow down local connections.
My config:
NR server installed on WinXPpro Sp3, forward fisical router's port to iinternal IP on 32976, also installed a NR client on this machine;
NR client installed in LAN on WinXPpro Sp3;
NR client installed somewere in WAN on WinXPhome Sp3;
all connected with P2P TCP (UDP not work from outside LAN) using IP (internal and Public from outside LAN).
I got this issue: when I ping with IP (internal or public) it's OK, when I ping with VPN IP (8.0.0.x) it's OK, when I make "net view" command on all IP for share folder it's OK;
if I try to browse external PC from server (with share folders command in NR) it's OK, if I browse server from external PC it's OK but external to/from a client in LAN not work, if I browse cclient to server and server to client in NR it's fast but if I browse LAN with explorer from client work very slowly, deactivated NR tap on client make browsing LAN as usually.
So I like to work on external client from my internal client but I only can use VNC instead NR, other side browsing LAN it's very difficult and I deinstall NR from client. On server I've not issues, all works fine. I got this with 0.9.4 and 0.9.5 versions..
I know I was very confused in my explanation, I you can understand something and give me a solution I'm very happy....
Tnx a lot.
Best regards.
Filippo.

Hi Filippo,

[R] --------------[R] -----{client 2}
/ \
{server} {client 1}

If I understand correctly, you have a problem with {client 1} when you try to directly access (not though NR) the shared folder on it from {server} or any other computer in the same LAN.

If so, would you check the "Network Connections" settings on {client 1}?
Go to "Network Connections", select menu item from "Advanced"->"Advanced settings". The "NeoRouter Connection" should be the last one in the "Connections" list. If not, please change that manually and save.

Then Go to "Network Connections", open the NeoRouter Connection Properties, choose "Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)", click on "Advanced..." button. If there is a value for the default gateways, please remove it and check the "Automatic metric". save it.

The very earlier version of NeoRouter set the default gateway and put it in the top of the connection list, which may cause LAN adapter to be processed after NeoRouter adapter and get slow.

If not the issue, can you post the result of command "route print" so that we can help you.

thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team

Hi KevinZ,

[R] --------------[R] -----{client 2}
/ \
{server} {client 1}

your understanding was wrong only for that:
I get difficulty browsing from (client 1) -->LAN.
Otherside from anywere in LAN to (client 1) it's fast.
I can't browse from (client 1) --> (client 2) and from (client 2) --> (client 1).
(server)192.168.1.11 it's a server on LAN to with 3 clients(192.168.1.10/12/13) in same LAN and a NAS (FreeNas)192.168.1.250, all of them in same workgroup.
I just install NR server on the server and NR explorer on (client 1), also NR client on (client 2)xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxpublic in other geographic location (WAN) configured in same workgroup.
I check all what you tell me in "Network Connections", in the advanced tab and advanced setting, it's just as you tell me.

Browsing LAN from server (NR server to) and all other client without NR installed it's very fast, only from (client 1) very slow and sometimes return errorr connecting.... if I unistall NR from (client 1) all works fine.
Browsing (client 1)<--->(client 2) and viceversa don't work.
Browsing server <-->(client 2) and viceversa it's ok.
"Net view" and "ping" commands are everytime OK in all directions from all machines.

Tnx a lot for yours suggestions and help.
Best regards.
Filippo.

Hi, I tryed this:
in (client 1) I've unchecked "Client for MS Networks" in the properties of NR Network Card.
That work fine for browsing local LAN, I can control (client 2) with VNC but obviously I can't browse it.
If you have better solution for making all work fine I prefer, for now it's ok like that.
Tnx a lot.
Filippo.

Hi.
This is the result of the test:
for make fast browsing local LAN with a client and a server (Neorouter) in same LAN the Netbios on Zebratap of the client must be disabled or just use shared folder links without browsing LAN.
For the problem that I got seeing (client 1)<---->(client 2) was only a bad configuration of the filters I make in the internal firewall of Neorouter, I'm sorry...
Best regards.
Filippo.
