hey Guys, love the product, but I am having an issue on a win754 box communicating back to a 2003 server. everything connects fine, works fine... for a little while (5~8 min) and then I can no longer ping across either box to the other.

I also have a win7 32bit lappy *next* to the win764 machine and the lappy communicates perfectly with the 2003 server. (ie. so its the 64bit machine having the issue.

I close the NeoExplorer and open it again and it works... for a little while. if I put ping -t in a dos window and just let it run.. it seems to continue to work, but 5 to 8 min after I stop the ping.. down communication goes.

NeoRouter Free v 1.1.0.1800[1]

And .. restarting the service or network explorer.. works perfect

Thanks for the help

Charles...

hi Charles,

Thanks for reporting the issue.
Can you help get log file for nrservice and send to support@neorouter.com?
To enable logging, you can launch Network Explorer and choose menu Help | Troubleshooting | Log session to file. Then please restart NeoRouter Client Service using services.msc. Then please reproduce the bug. The generated log file will be saved to %AllUsersAppdata%\ZebraNetworkSystems\NeoRouter\NRService*.log.
To disable logging, just uncheck the above menu option.

thanks for the quick reply !!

The logs are on their way, and I did the following:
- stopped the service
- turned logging on
- started the service
- pinged my server (10.0.0.2)
- waited five or so minutes
- pinged again (10.0.0.2), which failed
- stopped the service
- copied logs

Thanks
Charles....

Hi Charles,

I was unable to reproduce this issue in our lab.
Can you think of any other difference between this win764 and other computers, e.g. OS edition (pro vs home), network connection (wired vs wireless), Windows domain (managed vs unmanaged), or third party software (firewall)?
Another thing to try is to change the Peer-to-peer connection type. Launch Network Explorer on the Win764 computer, choose from menu "File | Connection... | Tcp connection", then restart service and network explorer. See if that fixes this problem.

Thanks,

Hey Luke, thanks for the update.

I just changed the connection type to TCP instead of UDP. (Dont know what the laptop is set at, it was default so.. probably udp also. )

I have been thru the machines pretty well, and walked thru again friday night and other than one is 64bit and one is 32bit.. I dont see any differences. (I even switched machine ip's to see if the off site firewall was an issue.. no change.)

Lets see how the TCP change works.. I will check back in later.

Thanks
Charles...

update...

I set an exception to my firewall on the main NR Explorer, and then turned OFF the service and am ONLY running the Network Explorer.. an it has been running for nearly 20 min with no disconnect.

I will monitor it for a while and check back in .

it appears that keeping an RDC open across the VPN .. keeps it alive. Even if I am not clicking or doing anything.

Hi Charles,

Does Win7-64 have wireless connection?
When NR loses connection, it should reconnect within a few seconds. Is this different from what you see?

Thanks,
