Post subject:  NeoRouter as a secure tunnel to Socks Server

I have a VPS (openVZ-Ubuntu) on which I've got a socks server installed (danted). My socks server works great when I use it with SSH or OpenVPN as a way to secure connection to the VPS.

Now, I'd like to use NeoRouter instead of SSH or OpenVPN, though main purpose would be securing my sip server connections to the clients, but let's presume the case is to secure connection to the socks server on my VPS.

Can anyone explain it to me how to do it?

Hi paulalt,

The idea is similar to ssh/openvpn, when you use NeoRouter VPN. The setup would be different.

1. You may want to either setup a NR Free/Pro server or register a NR Mesh service

2. Install NR client on both ends of your socks tunnel (server side and client side), sign in to NR server, the VPN tunnel is ready.

3. Your application may talk to socks server over the VPN tunnel.

Note:
OpenVZ may not have /dev/tun device by default, if so, ask VPS provider for it.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team
