Hi,
I am not able to connect to the server using the Domain name when my system is in the same local network.

But if I am in the different network. I can able to connect to the server using the Domain name.

Is there any possibility that I can connect to the server using the Domain name even in local network instead of local ip?

Regards,
Rajesh

HI rajesh2uu,

Seems your router has hairpin issue.

Please take a look at the user manual Chapter
3.4.3 Server Local Address .

Hi Kevin,
I tried this option first but it is was not working..
Additionally I have added domain name and the server ip address in windows hosts file then it is started working.

Can I know, why it is not working when I maintained the settings only in the server local address tab.

is it mandatory that I need to maintain the settings also in the hosts file?

Regards,
Rajesh

Hi rajesh2uu,

No need to change hosts file. Did you restart the NR client service after setting up the server local address? The Network Explorer may ask you to restart the service, please accept the request or restart by yourself, so that the setting takes into effect.

In the "server local IP address", you may want to put the local IP of your server machine. NR client works in this way: It detects the position of your NR client computer, if it is behind your home router, it use the local ip to connect to your server; if it is outside your home router, it use the NR domain name to connect to your server, i.e. use the public IP of your server.

Let us know if you still have problem.

Thanks,

Hi Kevin,
Sometimes it is working and sometimes how many times I restart.. it is not logging with domain name.

The systems are windows xp 32 bit & 64 bit machines.

Rajesh

Hi rajesh2uu,

If you could get the log file of the nrservice, we would like to help you figure out where is the problem in our network.

Thanks,

Hi Kevin,
Can i know the location of the log file?

And I found the another issue. We are not using static IPs, so in the case of dynamic ips, if the router getting restarted and if it gets new dynamic ip, the neorouter server is not updating the new WAN IP to the neorouter Dashboard. In such case the neorouter clients are trying to connect to the old IPs.

Can I know is there any solution to overcome this?

Regards,
Rajesh

Hi rajesh2uu,

The log files are located in the main configuration folder by default. Choose the menu item of Network Explorer, "Help" >> "TroubleShooting" >> "Open Configuration Folder" and you will find it. The log folder can be customized in the Log.ini file as well.

NR Server takes care of the dynamic public IP scenario. It will detect the change and update the backend server with the new IP/domain name binding in a hour. If you want to speed it up, you can
1. go to the Dashboard site and manually update the public IP with your new IP.
OR
2. restart the NR server to force it to update.

NeoRouter client accept the Internet domain name as well, so the third-party DDNS tool would be another option for you.

Thanks,

Can you try this? Quit from NeoRouter Explorer, delete the Add-on folder, then start the NeoRouter Explorer.
