Hello,

I just recently learned about NeoRouter and tried to install it on my computer.
The machine runs Ubuntu 15.10. The installation went very easy and I got everything setup quickly. When I go to NeoRouter site and log in, the test passes successfully. However, I tried two different linux machines (ubuntu and lubuntu) to connect to my server (after installing NeoRouter client), and in both cases the connection was never established. I also tried NeoRouter portable on Windows 10 machine and it failed too.

Can any one help me to resolve this issue?

Regards,
Leon

P.S. The default port on my router is open.

Hi Leon,

Can you try it from a machine in the same LAN of the NR server? I assume that NR server is up and running, when you sign in from NR client on the same LAN, please use the private IP of NR server instead of NR domain name for testing. In the "Log on to" field, you can use IP:port, for example: 192.168.1.x:32976

If you can sign in with IP address, then try NR domain name.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team

Hi KevinZ,

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, The clients on local network (using IP address 192.168.XXX.XXX:32976) still did not connect to the server. The server runs on Ubuntu 15.10 with firewall disabled. I tried portable client on Windows machine and a GUI client on Lubuntu PC.

My router is Asus RT-AC66U.

Please let me know what additional tests I can run.

Regards,
Leon

Hi Leon,

Try to install NR client package on your NR server box, then run nrclientcmd. When sign in , using 127.0.0.1:32976. If your NR server is running, it should connect to the local NR server. Then try NR client or NR config explorer on a computer in the same LAN. If not working, something on the server blocks it.

Thanks,

Hi KevinZ,

This is what I get from NR CLI client:
Quote:
NeoRouter Network Explorer (Free)

Signin failed. NeoRouter will retry automatically.
Transport endpoint is not connected

This was done on the same machine that runs the server. The domain test (that I do under login option in MR site) provides me port open and server active message.

Any recommendations?

Regards,
Leon

Hi leonidh,

I'd say the NR server seems not running properly. The port test is against your router and server, if you have any other app listening on the same port, it may pass the test as well. Can you enable the logging and restart the NR server, so that you check the log file see if it's running properly.

Please take a look at this: http://www.neorouter.com/wiki/index.php ... og_file.3F

Thanks,
