Post subject:  Win10 Virtualbox VM Bridging?

Hi NR foliks,

We are using NeoRouter Mesh for our development team and are looking at switching our testing environments to a Win10 VM (most of the hosts are also Win10, but some will be Linux or Mac OS, if that matters).

I understand conceptually that it should be possible for a guest OS to use the host OS' NeoRouter adapter, and I've gotten as far as mapping a second adapter on the guest as a 'bridged adapter' in VirtualBox to the NeoRouter adapter, but I'm not sure where to go from here -- we'd like to avoid actually running the NeoRouter client on the guest OS if possible. It seems like the issue we have to solve is simply to map the address space for our VPN (which is just 10.0.2.x) to the correct adapter, but I'm not sure how to do this.

Is there a guide for something like this anywhere?

Thanks very much!

Hi Aquitaine,

Thanks for your post. I'm afraid that it's not gonna work to put NR adapter as the bridge adapter, as NR doesn't understand the packets coming from the VMs outside NR virtual network. If you really don't want to install NR client on each VM, consider setting up a proxy server on the host machine and redirect the connection to the VM. This way makes the host machine like a proxy/gateway between NR network and the VM's network.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team
