Post subject:  NeoRouter Server on Cloud VPS - Cannot connect

I have a VPS from Impact VPS running Ubuntu 14.04, I have multiple other VPS from Impact running as Clients, but this is my first one trying to run as a Server.

The VPS does not have a eth0 but a venet0:0. I made the change to /usr/local/ZebraNetworks/NeoRouter/Feature.ini for the NIC card, but still cannot get it to work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just tried to connect to my older NeoRouter Free server from this VPS and it connected. So the VPS can connect to a NeoRouter Server, but no success as running this VPS as a NeoRouter server.

the doc for feature.ini is not very clear for NicInterfaceName= option, it may only apply to clients, not server.

on the other hand, nrserver listens to 0.0.0.0:port, I could be wrong but I think the server should work for any interface names, including your venet0:0

you might want to try:
1. install neorouter client on your server and use lo(127.0.0.1) as server IP, just to make sure the server is working;
2. then use venet0:0's IP as server IP, if this local client joins the server's neorouter network, the server is working on venet0:0's IP, the problem is your other clients have difficulties to connect to venet0:0's IP.

nrclientcmd on 127.0.0.1

NeoRouter Network Explorer (Professional)

Signin failed. NeoRouter will retry automatically.
Transport endpoint is not connected

are you sure you input the correct port? it should be 127.0.0.1:xxxx and xxxx is your server's port
