Okay, Now I've been at this for two days...

I upgrade the mediaPC which also hosts the Neorouter server service..
Ran XP before and it worked perfectly..

Server pc has a static IP with port forwarded in ADSL router.
Same IP and port as it was when I used XP.

Windows Firewall has exceptions for all Neorouter services.

Within the same LAN Neorouter works!!!!

Neorouter Dashbord says port isn't open/server not responding.

Server PC now in DMZ, windows firewall turned off.
STILL same issue! :(

WTF... I'm soon going to be bald over here..
This goes against just about everything I know about networking..

What am I doing wrong??

Hi Thyg0d,

Since NR works in your LAN, I believe there would be something wrong with your router settings or so. Use the public IP to troubleshoot first.

Thanks,

Hi Kevinz

I thought of that as well but I doubt it's the router since nothing has changed since I ran XP and since the PC is in the DMZ (for testing)
it shouldn't have anything to do with the router..

I'm more declined to think it has something to do with Win7
and the fact that it says the NeoRouter is a Unidentified Network
thus not letting the SW Nic communicate with the internet..
I've found tons of info on that but nothing on how to change that..

Do you have anything that could point me in the right direction?
I'm probably not the first one having this issue.. :D

Anyone had this issue before??

It seems like one of the reason it's an unidentified network
is 'cause it doesn't have a default GW..
Tried 10000 different fixes and stuff but I still can't access it from the outside..
I've also connected the Neorouter server directly to my DSL line
just to make sure it's not a router issue.. Still same issue..
So it has got to be something with the combo Win7 and Neorouter/sw nic..

Hi Thyg0d,

Can you try other application see if the port forwarding works? For example, run a VNC server on the PC and set port forward to open the server port to the Internet. Run another VNC client to connect to the public IP of your router see if it works.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team

Tried to connect to VNC the port, didn't work..
Opened port 5900 and VNC connected right away..
Change Neorouter port to 5900 and the Dahsboard gave me green light..
Of course that colided with VNC so I had to change it again..
Put in another port, not the standard one, green light again...

Now the Network explorer on the server and the laptop at home
went down instead..
Rebooted just to be sure nothing was wrong with the server..

Reboot 1:
the Dashboard gave me a green light other than that no change..
Reboot 2:
the network explorer on the server found it..
Reboot 3:
All the other PC's kicked in...
:o

Don't get it but it works.. Don't se how changing the port to a different number would change anything but hey.. I'm happy..

Thanks for you help!!
