Post subject:  Not much connection

Hi all

I have installed the following setup:
  • NeoRouter server and client (free version) on my Windows Home Server 2003. It has IP 10.0.0.3.
  • NeouRouter client (free version) on a Windows 7 Ultimate Workstation PC. It has IP 10.0.0.2
  • The connection is a Peer-to-peer UDP connection.
  • Opened the appropriate port for UDP and TCP in my router.

Neorouter does work a little: if I change the description of a computer on one computer, the change can be seen on the other.

But that's about all the connection that I have. Ping times out except if I ping the server from itself, i.e. the Win7 PC cannot ping anything called 10.0.0.x.

Also on the Win7 PC, an ipconfig /all does not show anything that can be identified as a NeoRouter network adapter.

I have tried to turn the Windows firewall off: that does not change anything.

So, where do I go from here? I have tried to enable logging on the server but but I cannot see from the log file what's wrong.

hi ebbek,

Can you send nrservice log on the Win7 to support@neorouter.com? It will give us more information to help you debug the issue.

Thanks,
Luke

Wow! That was quick. I had not expected to get an answer from a NeoRouter employee until Monday. You guys really care for what you are doing :D

Anyway, the log files are in the mail.

Ebbe and I had resolved this issue. It was because NR tap driver was not setup properly. Reinstall the driver fixed the issue.

The following forum posts have more information on how to manually install the driver:

Thanks,
Luke
