Is there, or has anyone suggested the idea of a client node for Android? Not the explorer/tools that are currently available. I mean access an Android node from a PC or other Android device. Just curious.

Hi mikedoth,

Thanks for your good suggestion. We are considering about it and may improve the NR for Android to support it.

Thanks,

Is it possible to take advantage of rooted phones and have a client that pretty much emulates the PC version?

So no need for the static ports or dynamic ports. If I want to get to my pc over ftp then I just go for it.

Or am I missing something?

Thanks

Hi wassadude,

We are working the feature right now and a new version of NR for Android VPN is under testing. It runs as a standalone VPN service, same as the one running on PC. It leverages the Android 4.0 VPN API to access the tun device and connect to other NR clients.

With the new build, the users using Android v2.x/3.x devices will keep using the old port forward approach; while the users using Android v4+ devices can enjoy the true NR VPN, e.g. run any apps and connect to the NR VIP, no need to set port forwarding anymore.

The new build will be an universal build and no need to root your device. :)

Stay tuned, coming soon.

Thanks,

You know that is awesome - thanks fr that - and it will do my tablet a world of good.

On my phone I am still stuck on gingerbread as it is a HTC Desire z (physical keyboard) and so I will have to find an ICS or jellybean build for that.

If I can't what do you suggest? (I know buying a new device is an option - but physical keyboards are just to useful to give up...)

Thanks - and cannot wait for the new build
