Hi, I suggest that make possible to have multiple server in the same VPN: like multiple domain controllers in the same domain, in a large VPN (lot of clients) may be it help for stability and for to have a backup if one of them crash down for any problem (Internet connection, hardware fails...).
I actually use a static IP address for connecting the clients but I set up a domain when I installed the server, in the dashboard I can manage it but is not useful for backing up the server db: if I have a crash actually I must restore on new installation the db of the actual server for fast relay all the clients with same customisation (I mind firewall and Computer list).
That if I'm right understand the usage of the database.
For a user that need stable VPN it's a goal to have independence from hw, just set up 2 or more servers in different geographic areas.
Thank you for your hard work!

Hi Filippo,

Thanks for your suggestion. It's a good idea and we will evaluate it.

Your understanding is correct, that the server db contains ACL, computer list, user info and so on. You can backup the folder ( on Windows, it's C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ZebraNetworkSystems\NeoRouter ) for the restore purpose.

Actually, we've thinking about multi-domains architecture, but wondering if people really need. Some features can be introduced if we extend it to multi-domains.

1. Clients belonging to different domains can connection each other after authentication and authorization.

2. Backup server list - a client can choose and connect to an available domain in a server list

3. Load balancing and fail-over - a group of clients shares a server pool

and more...

Let us know if you like or need these features.

thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team

Hi KevinZ,
thanks for your consideration...

I think it's a good idea multiple domain... but I think to if is really needed from users or admin of VPN, peraphs is near the same result if you give the possibility to change tap name and IP range: changing the ports where the server listen give the possibility to set up multiple server on same machine.
In your case sure you give more and more possibility, that make possible to create new complexe infrastructure with multiple usage.

I have another little suggestion about a backup automatic of the db with possibility to restore it on new installation, is wondwerful for set up a multiple "domain server" if you plan to develop it.

I vote for this future. With automatic replication of servers' databases.
