Hi, just trying again to help make NeoRouter better. :)

All Server 2000 and Server 2003 I tested NeoRouter on suddenly are giving Browser error events every 2 hours. I'm not 100% sure it is NeoRouter, but I figured you are better qualified to figure it out.

Here is a MS article on it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/135404

Thanks. I'll keep trying to figure this out also.

Here are the errors I'm getting on the Win 2k Server (and 2003 also):
(regardless of the error below, everything still works)
------------------------------------------------------------------
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Dhcp
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1002
Date: 10/23/2009
Time: 3:59:02 AM
User: N/A
Computer: CARDIAC
Description:
The IP address lease 5.0.0.4 for the Network Card with network address 00FF89993405 has been denied by the DHCP server 5.0.0.1 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message).
------------------------------------------------------------------
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: BROWSER
Event Category: None
Event ID: 8021
Date: 10/23/2009
Time: 3:59:17 AM
User: N/A
Computer: CARDIAC
Description:
The browser was unable to retrieve a list of servers from the browser master \\PCIREMOTE on the network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{89993405-15BF-42D7-BA47-BC0B6586D359}. The data is the error code.
Data:
0000: 35 00 00 00 5...
------------------------------------------------------------------

(regarding the above, not sure why the focus on the "PCIREMOTE" server from the "CARDIAC" server - why is there a master? Shouldn't be.)

------------------------------------------------------------------
Event Type: Error
Event Source: BROWSER
Event Category: None
Event ID: 8032
Date: 10/23/2009
Time: 4:01:26 AM
User: N/A
Computer: CARDIAC
Description:
The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{89993405-15BF-42D7-BA47-BC0B6586D359}. The backup browser is stopping.
Data:
0000: 35 00 00 00 5...
------------------------------------------------------------------

Rinse and repeat that last two, both the warning and the error, every two hours or less it seems. My system event log NEVER has more than a couple entries, until I turn on the NeoRouter service, then there's a flood of them by the end of the day. :(

Edit: Just so you are aware, yes, it all goes away once the NeoRouter service is disable.

It's a known issue, check out here for the solution:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/292822

Note:

1. On Win2003, it's recommended to install the NeoRouter Full package for WinXp+ instead of the package for Win2K.

2. Quick fix: On Win2K, after NeoRouter Connection is connected, e.g. a vip is assigned, you can change it to the static VIP manually in the "Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) Property" dialog box. The adapter will remove the default gateway and keep working. But it's not recommended, as it will reset when restarts. It's better to refer to the MS KB292822 above.

By default, NeoRouter set a static virtual IP address to the virtual adapter on WinXP+, but use DHCP on Win2K. So, if the browser service tries to get a browse list using the "wrong" IP it will fail, and cause the problem you are seeing.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team

Thanks! I'll give those solutions a try.

BTW: Only the Win2k version is on Win2k, and the 2003 server has the WinXP+ version already.
