Port forwarding problems. I am unable to get UltraVNC or Real VNC to connect to NeoRouter Pro 0.9.10 on a machine using a ports other than 5900 and 5800. I am trying to use Ports 5901 and 5801. I changed the VNC port assignments for the machine via NeoRouter Configuration, changed UltraVNC to use port 5901, truned off all firewalls and virus protection with no luck. Any suggestions? :|

Hi dhampikian,

I wonder if I understand your question properly. The ACL setting in the Configuration Explorer is not port forwarding, it's an Access Control List, just like a built-in firewall.

So if you want to use the VNC server listening at 5901/TCP, you may want to
1.set VNC server to listening at 5901/tcp by changing the setting in the VNC Server UI
2.if you turned the NR ACL firewall on, you may want to change the item in the "VNC" service from 5900/tcp to 5901/tcp
It affects immediatly once you save the ACL.
3.you can use VNC client to access the VNC server at 5901/tcp (assume your windows firewall are set properly)

Thanks,

Your suggestions are exactly what I tried. The UltraVNC is set to listen on port 5901. The NeoRouter on the server is listening on 32976. I turned the NR ACL firewall on and change the item in the "VNC" service from 5900/tcp to 5901/tcp. This configuration will not work with NeoRouter. Without changing anything Hamachi works which leads me to believe that NeoRouter won't allow 5901 to be used. I also turned off all firewalls and virus protection and NeoRouter would not connect.

Please try this:

1.After you set the VNC server to 5901/tcp, go to the computer and "try telnet localhost 5901" see if it works.
2.Turn off the NR ACL firewall (firewall off), see if it works
3.Log off from NR Client and Sign in again see if it works

Thanks,

Tried your suggestions. Apparently there was some hidden setting that was not allowing a connection. By starting telnet it cleared this setting. Things now work fine with all firewalls and virus protection on.

Thanks for the fix.
