Post subject:  Extra "Microsoft 6to4 adapter"

After the neorouter client (Pro version) succesfully connects to the server it creates an extra "Microsoft 6to4 adapter" (device manager, hidden devices of ipconifg /all). After each connection it adds one more. After 30 adapters I thought I had to report it. ;)

I tested it on a Win7 Home premium OS.

The eventlog tells that the installation is possibly corrupt. So I installad it again (as admin) but without any change. Details:

- System
- Provider
[ Name] NeoRouter Client Service
- EventID 1
[ Qualifiers] 16384
Level 4
Task 0
Keywords 0x80000000000000

- TimeCreated

EventRecordID 4255
Channel Application
Computer MMLaptop01
Security
- EventData
NeoRouter Client Service

Any ideas?

Hi mkoenders,

Thanks for your report. Can you try to disable IPv6 for the NeoRouter virtual adapter by unchecking the "Internet Protocol Version 6(TCP/IPv6)" adapter on the connection properties dialog?

It's a issue related to the "Microsoft 6to4 adapter" on Vista+ and you can ignore it safely. We will improve it in the future.

6to4 adapter is a component used for transmitting IPv6 packets trough IPv4 network correctly. With some drivers, such as NeoRouter virtual adapter or Microsoft ISATAP adapter, that do not support the feature, users may come cross the issue.

In some scenarios, there will be a code 31 or code 10 error appearing beside this component. To remove the error message, please right-click the Command Prompt and run as administrator, type the command netsh in 6to4 set state disable, press
Enter. The component will be disabled and hidden.

If you really don't like it, you can disable the IPv6 and delete those entries.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team

Kevin, I tried disabeling IPV6 for all the adapters but that did'nt get rid of the extra adapter. I will see if I can disable IPV6 alltogether for now. THANKS for your quick reply. :D

OH, I don't mind the evetlog entries just the extra adapters that keep being added. It just contaminates the registry, and if you are not technical, like most of my clients, telling them how to disable IPV6 or delete the adapters form the device list is a (small) challenge. :)
