After installing NeoRouter Server free from http://download.neorouter.com/Downloads ... -amd64.deb, I checked the license status and found this:
NeoRouter Free [Version 1.9.0.3800]
Copyright (C) 2013 NeoRouter Inc.

*** Please run this command as root ***

Product information:
Computer license: 256
License status: 30 day(s) left

Why does the free version have only 30 days?

Hi mvader,

NR Free server requires Internet access. Would you double check see if the box has Internet access and setup your router properly to make sure it passes the test from the Dashboard?

Once you resolved the network issue, please restart NR server to make it update the license status.

If you still have the problem, please let us know. NR Free should never be expired.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team

It definitely had internet access...
But I had set up a static IP address, but had not set the "dns-nameserver" entry in /etc/network/interfaces, so it couldn't find any host by name. It could find them by IP, but not name. It is working now. Thanks!
