Hi,
I use neorouter both on windows and nix server host (separated domain and physical network also separated). I don't have any problem on windows server host.
I have a domain name resolution problem with nrserver process on my debian host.
My domain information is not refreshed and my public ip is dynamic so my client must know the public ip to successfully log in. I can see through dashboard a one time update (seems to occur a few days ago, I think the date of installation), but after no update anymore.
I can connect from wan with my public ip (and also from lan with private ip) so nrserver seems to work.
It's she same behavior with ou without firewall.

What are the rules and the requirements to have the expected behavior (daily public ip change), I mean to benefit from the neorouter domain name resolution ?

thanks.
sincerely

bewan router with port forwarding to my debian host server port
nrserver 1.1.4.2330 free
debian lenny stable
firewall : yes and no (see above)

Hi mehrhart,

NRServer updates the NR domain information with the public IP and port once an hour and every time the NRServer starts. If your public IP gets changed every day, you can try to use some kind of Dynamic DNS service, for example: http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/ .

If you use the default port 32976, you can log on specifying port number. For exmaple: lon on to xxxx.dyndns.com . The dyndns is free and requires you install a client on your server and it may update the IP more frequently.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team

Hello,
Thanks for your quick reply.
But I'm aware of dyndns. I can connect with xxxx.yyyy.zzzz provided by dyndns services (We use dyndns for ftp hosting).
The neorouter "simple" domain name lookup does not work in my configuration because the server seems to not update "once an hour, and every the nrserver start". My windows server host properly updates, and my isp changes the public address in the same manner, so <neorouter domain> is resolved ; dyndns is not mandatory, thanks to neorouter specific owned domain name resolution. Can something prevent nrserver process to update neorouter domain name servers (my firewall is down for the test) ?

Here from dashboard :
Code:
Last Update Time:   12/15/2010 3:56:25 PM

thanks
Sincerely

Hi mehrhart,

Can you send the log file of the nrserver to us (support(at)neorouter.com) so that we can help you to figure out?

Thanks,

Hi,
see my bug report
char '$' in the domain passwd blocks domain info update
http://neorouter.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4518&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

Remove the '$' character, and it rocks ...
