Hello,

Today I installed neorouter-in-a-box (tomato) on my linksys, and then successfully added several windows xp clients, and my android phone (2.1). This will replace hamachi for me.

I'd like to be able to access file shares on the xp clients with my android phone, but cannot seem to get it to work. (File sharing works fine between the various windows clients, however).

Can someone please point me in the right direction on how to access the shares on my xp machines with the android phone?

I'll take any help I can get, but the more detail the better!

Thank you,
Seth

You may need to dumb it down a little for me. here's what I did:

In nr android ap -- settings --> config dynamic port forward --> "fileshare:localhost:32973 ->$NRIPAddress:445"

In computer list I long press and choose that entry on the computer I want to access the shared files.

In cifsmanager android ap, in the field called "share path" I enter 10.0.0.1/My Documents (the virtual ip given to the computer i want to access by neorouter)

I have tried with credentials and without. Can't get it to work. Also tried mount manager, astro smb, es file explored, and file expert aps.

Please help with any suggestions or advice.

Thanks, Seth

FWIW, I got it to work without cifsmanager (don't even know what that is).
Just followed what is stated above already.

1. Create a dynamic port fwd rule from localhost:32973 to remote:445.
2. Activate that port forward rule.
3. Go to ES File Explorer.
4. Select LAN in ES File Explorer.
5. Click Menu and select New -> Server.
6. Type "127.0.0.1:32973" as Server address. If necessary, provide user+pwd (I just use anonymous as my Shares are writable for everyone). And give it a display name (e.g. "Server thru Neo").
7. Click OK and then your new server will show up in the list of Samba servers.
8. Just click on the newly created server, and all your public shares will show up and can be browsed.

EDIT: I think the problem is that you used the virtual IP that Neo assigns. TBH I don't see the use of this virtual IP. Since Neo does not create a virtual network interface, the OS (in this case Android) has no knowledge about it, and as a result you can't do anything with that IP address. The way I see it, NeoRouter is primarily an SSL Tunnel tool where you let the applications connect to localhost on a specific port to have it enter the tunnel.

Ha ha! I've been trying to figure this out for two days, and it works perfectly. Thanks a bundle, neophyte!
