Does Neorouter do this? I don't want to run it as a server, I just want the client on my one computer. Am I understanding how neorouter works? I want to use it as a VPN to provide a secure method of accessing the internet over wifi when I am not home. |

NeoRouter won't do what you want. It's not so much a misunderstanding of NeoRouter itself, but of VPN in general. VPN is an encryption technology. For it to work, you need a VPN device on both ends - one to encrypt the data before sending and the other to decrypt the data after receiving it. There are steps you can take to protect yourself on public wi-fi networks - here is a downloadable flyer from Microsoft with some tips - but it's not exactly what you're asking for. I believe there is a way to use NeoRouter for what you want, but it would mean setting up a NeoRouter connection between your laptop and a computer at your home, and then configuring your laptop to route all network communication through NeoRouter. |
