hi danny,

thanks for using NeoRouter.
Please take a look at User's Manual (http://download.neorouter.com/Documents ... l_10en.pdf) "2.3.6 Install NeoRouter Client on OpenWRT Kamikaze". We now support OpenWRT Backfire 2.4 kernel. The document needs to be updated, but the instructions are same.
NRClient requires 8MB flash, so your WRT54GS2 should work, but WRT54GL may not. WRT54GL can still be used as NRServer.
Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks,
Luke

Hi Danny,

*.ipk is not a full firmware package. It is a software package that you can install to openwrt operating system.
Please flash the router with openwrt backfire firmware package (http://downloads.openwrt.org/backfire/1 ... /brcm-2.4/), then install nrclient package using "opkg install http://download.neorouter.com/Downloads ... mipsel.ipk" command.
You may also need to run "opkg update" command to find dependencies. See user's manual for more detailed instructions.

Thanks,
Luke

hi Danny,

It turns out WRT54GS2 has only 2MB flash (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linksys_WR ... s#WRT54GS2), which is not enough for flashing custom firmware. I was confused with WRT54GS(v2) which has 8MB flash (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linksys_WR ... es#WRT54GS). I should have realized this sooner.

You will need a router with 8MB flash to install NeoRouter client. You can install NeoRouter server on a router with 4MB flash, like your WRT54GL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linksys_WR ... es#WRT54GL).

Thanks,
Luke

hi Danny,

We have been using Asus WL-500gP V2 for our testing purposes, and it works great. But this model is becoming outdated, specially it does not support 802.11n.

So I would recommend you look for an Asus or D-Link router (because they are most friendly for custom firmwares) that has >=8MB flash. Usually dd-wrt website has very good information on hardware specifications.

Thanks,
Luke
