I've got a bunch of Mac OSX computers running NeoRouter professional clients. I registered these clients onto the VPN network using the command line nrclientcmd interface (I do not want the graphical NeoRouter client to need to be running on these machines).

With nrservice running in the background on these computers, they seem to accept incoming connections over the VPN just fine (I can ssh into them from my laptop, for example) .... However, outgoing connections from these computers to other computers on the VPN fail *unless* I load the graphical NeoRouter client.

Is the graphical client necessary to establish outgoing connections?

Hi justinsc,

I am guessing that you have setup ACL. When neither GUI nor commandline client is running, nrservice is not bond to any user, so default user's ACL is effective. If you launch either GUI or commandline client and signs in, nrservice is bond to the user account and can access remote services as permitted by ACL.
There is no difference between GUI and commandline.

Ahh-- that makes complete sense! Works like a charm.
