Good morning.

I am trying to install NeoRouter on my MBP running OSX Lion. I am getting an error telling me i have not installed the TAP program, and that /dev/tap0 does not exist... thing is, /dev/tap0 does exist... as do the rest of them up to 15... As Far A I Know, TunnelBlick uses the same tap Kernel Extension, and i have it installed, and it works grand, so i am not sure what is going on with NeoRouter... Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi tiernano,

Can you try uninstalling openvpn and its tap driver, so we start with a clean slate? Then install the tap driver that comes with the NR package, then install NR itself.

If that does not work, could you try to install using command line. "sudo installer -pkg NR.pkg -target /". You can also enable verbose flag to get more info.

Thanks.

Right, so i have uninstalled as best i can without formatting the machine (which might not be such a bad idea...) and its still not working... I deleted the tun and tap Kernel Extensions, Killed OpenVPN and deleted it (there is no uninstaller i can find though) and tried reinstalling NeoRouter, but same problem... I get the same message from the command line... Anything else i should try before i do a format?

Hi tiernano,

Are you using neorouter free, pro or mesh? Can you pm me your email address and I will send you a private build for testing.

Thanks

hi tiernano,

I just sent you a private build of NeoRouter Free for Mac i386. It still checks for /dev/tap0, but you can dismiss the warning and continue the installation. Please let us know whether it helps solving the issue.

Thanks,
Luke

tiernano has confirmed that the private build works. I have checked in the fix and it will be included in future releases.

Can I get a copy of the test build? I'm down until this fix is released. I was waiting, but haven't seen any updates, so I figured I'd ask.

Thanks

hi Brentley,

We have updated the Mac x86 Client package at NRFree 1.5.1 Download page. Please download a fresh copy and try installing again.
NRPro 1.6.1 or Mesh 1.6.0 should already have the fix.

Thanks,
Luke

Good morning all...

Having a bit of an issue with the magic build...

Getting errors telling me that /Library/NeoRouter/nrservice failed to start due to error -2147024894.

I have had to recreate my domain, as the main i had as domain controller (if you call it that) is down for a while. i tried hard coding the IP and Port, incase that was the problem, but still no luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
