Hello Luke !

Thanks again for your answer... It's not really pleasant answer...
i need to buy something new to run NeoRouter Server now....
All only because the last update...
It's not really cool... but ok... why not...

I will flash my router back into dd-WRT and buy something else for the NRserver !

But now i need to find something ready to run it for a long time !

It will be the only thing on this part of my network !
I don't "need" a switch (but could maybe improve my actual network if it's a 1Gbps switch), i don't need Acces Point (i have the Fonera 2.0n and the Buffalo WHR-HP-G54) and i don't need a router (i'm using a Mikrotik RB750G).

I could add a PC working 24h/24 and 7d/7 but i don't want to pay a crazy energy's bill !

According to this link: http://www.neorouter.com/downloads_nrfree.html , i would like to find something cool, not too expenssive, not spending crazy energy only for a little server.. and ready for the futur !

Which one should you recommend me ?

Raspberry (Paspbian) seems to be a powerful and funny platform ! But more expenssive as the others...

Tomato seems to be more easy to install/use... but don't know which hardware buying... it's not really a good compatibility list avaible... (or i do not found it...)
http://www.polarcloud.com/firmware

OpenWRT seems to be supported by alot of different hardware, it is more "hard" to install... but i could do it with help !

Should i choose a OpenWRT compatible hardware ?
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/start
If yes, which one ?
How should i choose it ?
I see memory is my problem today... but what else should i choose ?
Which CPU will be the best ?
What is the best AR71xx or Mipsel ?
Which one is the most compatible or which one should be longer compatible ?

Hi Topodoco,

I use TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND (ar71xx) and ASUS WL-500GP V2 (mipsel). Both routers have 8MB flash and powerful CPUs. I also highly recommend Raspberry Pi, though you will need a separate router.

Thanks,
Luke

Hi Luke !

Thanks for the answer !

I was more thinking about something like another router, used only as NeoRouter Server.
The Raspberry Pi seems to be very good too !
But why this choice ? It's working better ?
I never used a Raspberry... and though it's using more "power"... but maybe i'm wrong... by the way, i will do some search about that.
I think it could be a good idea too !

Do you have something to recommand me ?
What should i add ? I saw they is no case, no power supply, and i will need a SD card.
Should i add something else ?

Thanks for all your answer ! It's really helpful !

Hi Topodoco,

Raspberry Pi has a more powerful CPU that NeoRouter server can definitely benefit from it. Your NeoRouter network will run faster, specially if you are using the web app (NeoRouter Remote Access Client for browsers).

Thanks,
Luke

Hi again !

I'm back with my Raspberry Pi now !!

I installed the Raspbian “wheezy” from here:
http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads

I used win32diskimager to put the Raspbian on the SD Card:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/
(need to be started as Admin in W7/W8)

After settings, i installed the NeoRouter Server (1.9 free) from here:
http://www.neorouter.com/downloads_nrfree.html#raspbian

Using the command:
Code:
sudo dpkg -i nrserver-1.9.0.3800-free-raspbian-armhf.deb

After the settings it's working great !

But i have 2 problems...

1st: here http://www.neorouter.com/checkport.php i have good answer (The address "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxxx" is open and the NeoRouter Server is active.) only 3x/10 and 7x/10 i have bad answer (The address "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxxx" is closed and the NeoRouter Server cannot be used at this time)... Why it's not stable ? It's a problem with my Raspberry Pi ? A bad setting ? Something wrong here ? or... only a problem on the site ?
Of course i redirected the port to my Raspberry Pi (with fixed IP).

2nd: I'm not able to open the "NeoRouter Configuration Explorer"
I have always the answer "Signin failed because connection to server cannot be established. [hr=0x8007274c]". What it mean ?
All was always working great with my Fonera2.0n

Thanks in advance !

Hi Topodoco,

Before using the NR console/client, you may want to make sure the check port test passed, or it means you have setting problem either in the router or NR server.

Troubleshooting:
1.run NR console and connect NR server using the private IP. If you can connect it, go to the next step; or check the NR server.

2.it's more like the port-forwarding setting issue in the router. Try to access the url http://www.neorouter.com/ip.php from your server, see if you get the stable public IP. If you don't have a static public IP, you may want to use the DDNS service.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team

Hi Kevinz,

sorry for the long time since i received my Raspberry Pi, but i didn't change anything since my last post and it's working great !
Last weekend, i wasn't at home and tryed few times...
It was working everytime !
I used NeorouterHD free on my Android's phone !
I tryed the Neorouter free on the phone too and was able to open a VPN, but i don't find how to set up the other apps (AndroVNC).
With NeorouterHD free, the VNC work great !
i think the problem, is only the test on the site...
My network settings should be good because i used the "Fonera's port's forwarding" rules and only changed the IP adress from the FONERA to my Raspberry Pi...
Thanks for all your answers !
See you !
