Hi there,

I have neorouter server v 2.1.2 sitting on a Win2003 Server. Managed to install that without problems. Previously couldn't install it with v2.1.1.

Anyway the server side is fine, port is ok, I could go to your website's Dashboard, log in and it has a green light saying port and server is ok.

However I installed the client on my laptop and it won't log in, error is connection to the server cannot be established. 0x80072749.

I've tried using the Server Local Address option to connect using local address when I'm connected to local lan, doesn't work. Tried connecting to the Config Explorer doesn't work as well. I tried using a 3G dongle and connect normally using the domain name doesn't work as well.

Now I have another Neorouter server v2.1.1 installed at home (with a different domain name) and I could connect to via my laptop with no problems.

Do you think it has something to do with my office router? I did open a port on the router but did nothing else.

The only way I can log in is to type in the server's local lan ip under the domain name section. But that's only if my laptop is connected to the office network.

Appreciate any help you can provide.

Thank you!

Hi atty,

Can you test the new server while stop the old one? When setup port-forwarding, make sure using the same port on the target machine, say map 32976/tcp to the target 32976/tcp or other number, but 8000 to 32976.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team

Hi Kevinz,

The 2 servers are running on 2 separate machines in separate locations. They are not linked in any way.

The port forwarding should be correct. This is the command that i keyed into the router...
add firewall poli="main" ru=103 ac=allo int=eth0 prot=tcp po=1433 ip=192.168.0.12 gblip=219.***.***.*** gblp=32976

The 192.168.0.12 is where the neorouter server is residing, 219.* is my wan fixed ip address.

Hi atty,

Can Config Explorer sign in using the private IP / public IP + port to your server? The error code means some connection issue. Also check the firewall?

Thanks,

Hi Kevinz,

Yes if i'm in the office, I can connect by keying in the local ip address of the server (192.168.0.x) in the Domain column. When i'm out of office, keying in the domain name or their WAN IP won't work.

When you say try to public ip + port to the server you mean xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:32976 right? I just tried that, unfortunately it doesn't work as well.

Software firewall is turned off in the server.
But the office is using some enterprise router which has some built-in firewall. I just opened port 32976 for the server, I don't think there's anything else I need to do on it?

Thank you.

HI atty,

So you are using an Allied Telesis router?

I would suggest reading this guide for some tips http://www.alliedtelesis.co.nz/sales/configuration/docs/helpful_configs.pdf

From your line

Quote:
add firewall poli="main" ru=103 ac=allo int=eth0 prot=tcp po=1433 ip=192.168.0.12 gblip=219.***.***.*** gblp=32976

I can see that the internal port you are trying to port forward is 1433 (local LAN) to 32976 (internet). As advised by Kevinz this is not going to work, if you have your neorouter server configured for port 32976 then change "po=1433" to "po=32976", if your sever is configured for 1433 then change "gblp=32976" to "gblp=1433"

Example

Quote:
add firewall poli="main" ru=103 ac=allo int=eth0 prot=tcp po=32976 ip=192.168.0.12 gblip=219.***.***.*** gblp=32976

OR

Quote:
add firewall poli="main" ru=103 ac=allo int=eth0 prot=tcp po=1433 ip=192.168.0.12 gblip=219.***.***.*** gblp=1433

Hi shezzski,

Wow you know I'm using an allied telesis router by just looking at the command? lol that's quite something. But yes i'm using it. :)

I never knew what that "po=xxx" mean, until you mentioned to me. I initially read somewhere just to change the gblp to whatever port that was needed. Then I went to one of those port checker websites and it does show that the port was forwarded, without changing the po=1433 bit. But now I understand, the po=x section is the internal, and gblp=x is external. Thanks for that. :)

Anyway I'll will give that a try, thank you. :)
