Hello,

Currently using NeoRouter Free and would like to upgrade to Pro to use ACL. I have some questions regarding the upgrade.

1.) Is internet access required for the server to activate the PRO license? Does it need constant internet access to function? As of right now, the server does not have access to the internet.

2.) For user access control, if I disallow a user from accessing a computer, will the user still see it on the list? Is there a way so that a user can not see certain computers that are connected?

Thank you for the help.

Hi HappyQuill,

Please take a look at the comments below:

1) Is internet access required for the server to activate the PRO license?

Yes. When activating the PRO license, NR server must have an Internet access, especially must have access to the Dashboard site.

2) Does it need constant internet access to function? As of right now, the server does not have access to the internet.

It depends. If you don't use NR domain name, instead of Internet Domain name or IP, NR server doesn't need the Internet access once it's activated by a product key. If you use NR domain name, NR server needs the Internet access to our servers to sync up the public IP with the NR domain name associated with the server, so that NR clients can connect to it.

3) For user access control, if I disallow a user from accessing a computer, will the user still see it on the list? Is there a way so that a user can not see certain computers that are connected?

It depends. In the ACL setting, if you select "Block all" option for a user, he cannot see the computer in the list and can not even ping it; if you select "Firewall on", he can see the computer in the list, but the resources he can access is controlled by the firewall exception list you specified.

Let us know if you have any question or concern.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team
