Dear Kevin,

I would like to ask you is it possible to remotely watch IP Camera, connected for example to the remote Office LAN via NeoRouter?

Greetings from sunny Bulgaria.... :-)

Hi stefancho,

Yes and No. You can access the remote IP Camera INDIRECTLY, e.g. you may want to install the NR client on a computer and access the IP Camera over the computer ( for example: a proxy on the computer)

Thanks,

Assume your IP Camera is setup in this way. Correct me if I was wrong.

PC A <---> Internet <---> PC B --> Camera

Now you want to see the Camera from PC A.

There are 2 solutions:
1. setup NR Client on the PC A and PC B, then remote access to the PC B using VNC or RDP to watch Camera

2. setup a proxy server on PC B ( you can install the 3proxy add-on for NeoRouter, see the add-on site), then on PC A configure your watch software with the proxy settings to watch Camera. In this case, PC B works as a gateway.

Thanks,

Your advice sounds well, but the problem is that I am not familiar with proxies :-(

Here is the situation:

PC_A <---> Internet <---> | PC_B (192.168.254.20), IP_Camera_A (192.168.254.1), IP_Camera_B (192.168.254.2)

Please, give me advice how to configure proxy server (3Proxy) and NeoRouter to remotely watch the IP cameras...

Most IP camera support HTTP and allow users to view it from a browser. If the software coming with the camera support proxy, you can use it as well.

Let's take the browser as an example.

PC_A <---> Internet <---> | PC_B (192.168.254.20), IP_Camera_A (192.168.254.1), IP_Camera_B (192.168.254.2)

1. Install NR client on PC_A and PC_B

2. Download 3proxy add-on for NeoRouter (http://www.neorouter.com/addons/3Proxy/3Proxy.nri)

3. Go to Network Explorer (PC_B), choose menu item "File" -> "Add-ons" and click on the "install..." button. Then choose the 3Proxy.nri you download it.

4. After installed, restart your computer (or the nrservice) to load the 3proxy, as it's a service level add-on.

5. Config the Windows firewall on PC_B and open the 1080/tcp port. By default 3proxy server is listen at 1080 port using SOCKS protocol. It accepts all incoming connections and no user control. You can config 3proxy manual by editing the 3proxy.cfg file under C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ZebraNetworkSystems\NeoRouter\AddOns\xxxxxxxxx\ folder.

Note: you can find more information about 3proxy from http://www.3proxy.ru/

6. When you want to view the camera from PC_A, open the IE, choose menu item "Tools"->"Internet Options", click "Connections" tab, click on the "LAN setting" button, check the "Proxy server" option, click on the "Advanced..." button, input the PC_B's VIRTUAL IP address on the Socks line:

for example:

Type Proxy address to use port
Socks: 10.0.0.6 1080

Click on "OK" to save it.

7. If you want to browse camera_B, in IE type
http://192.168.254.2/xxxxxx.html

Similar to other cameras.

If your camera software supports proxy, you can set it up as well.

Thanks,
