Hello,

I'm having trouble joining my domain from a linux box behind a corporate firewall. I've tried to use the NR Portable from within a Citrix Windows session from the same network, it worked like charm after setting up the proxy part. My problem is that I don't find a similar posibility for proxy setup in the Linux Client. Could someone please help me out with this? Thanks in advance.

Regards, Zoltan

You can use "nrclientcmd" command on Linux or Mac OS X. From v0.9.8, it supports most commands including setproxy. After setup, you may want to restart the nrservice.sh manually.

Hello KevinZ,

first of all, thanks for your reply. My problem is however, that I cannot get to the point where I would be able to specify a proxy. By issuing "nrclientcmd" I'm asked for the Domain, User name and Password. After this is done, the login progress hangs with this text output:

"
NeoRouter Network Explorer

Connecting to NeoRouter Server.
"

So I was wondering if it was possible to add the proxy connection details before this step somehow? I mean like some sort of switches or arguments. (In the environment of the user the variable "http_proxy" is already present with the correct data - other applications are using it).

Thanks and Regards, Zoltan

Thanks for your report. It's a bug. One should be able to set proxy before connecting. We will fix the setproxy command soon.

So far, you may want to copy the Proxy.xml generated on a Windows platform to the Linux setting folder, then restart the nrservice to make it work.

On Windows, Proxy.xml is located in the Application Data folder, for example:

Quote:
On WinXp,

(if you setup the proxy using Configuration Explorer or Network Explorer)
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ZebraNetworkSystems\NeoRouter\Proxy.xml

(if you setup the proxy in NRViewer)
C:\Documents and Settings\[User name]\Application Data\ZebraNetworkSystems\NeoRouter\Proxy.xml

Quote:
On Linux,
/usr/local/ZebraNetworkSystems/NeoRouter/Proxy.xml

Sorry for the inconvenience. Let us know if you still have problem.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team

Hello KevinZ,

I've generated the "Proxy.xml" on a Windows box and copied it to the Linux box to the directory "/etc/local/ZebraNetworkSystems/NeoRouter".

The content of the xml is:

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<ProxySetting Version="1.0">
    <Proxy>
        <Id VALUE="457A20E9-FB0E-406e-BD94-D61F6653EA0D" />
        <Name VALUE="ProxyClient" />
        <Protocol VALUE="4" />
        <ServerName VALUE="proxy" />
        <ServerPort VALUE="8080" />
        <Authentication VALUE="FALSE" />
        <UserName VALUE="" />
        <Password VALUE="" />
    </Proxy>
</ProxySetting>

This should stay for a HTTP Proxy with no authentication needed at the machine "proxy" with the port "8080".

After restarting the service manually ("/etc/init.d/nrservice.sh restart") and retrying to login, the symptom is sadly still the same, hanging at the same step as described before. I've also tried to type "IP:Port" of the machine running the NR Server instead of the Domain name, tried with "URL:Port" also, sadly it did not helped either.
Any other ideas?

Thanks and Regards, Zoltan

Would you help to generate a log file and send it to support@neorouter.com so that we can investigate it?

For details about log file, check out here:

Hi mzh,

It's a bug. The proxy setting may cause the nrservice crashed. We will fix it in the next build.

Thanks,

Hello KevinZ,

yep, sadly the present of the Proxy.xml definitly makes my nrservice crash:

Code:
[ 3177.517796] nrservice[5463]: segfault at fffffff4 ip b7d1af79 sp bfffb2f0 error 4 in libstdc++.so.6.0.10[b7c83000+e4000]

Do you mind if I ask when do you plan to release the next build? An estimate, a tentative date? Or any other workaround that might help me until that time?

Thanks and regards, Zoltan

The bug has been fixed, so does the setproxy command. We may release a new build next month as plan.

But I can send you a snapshot build if you need. Just shoot me an email with your linux version and arch.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team
