It seems like this has been requested a number of times and the best people can come up with is to modify their hosts file or add NeoRouter IPs and Names to their existing WINS or DNS servers in order to route certain programs that prefer names over IP addresses. MS SQL is a great example of this as some of its features are only accessible by name not IP.

I would recommend using the existing infrastructure and create a simple WINS server inside the NeoRouter Server. All the necessary information is already there (name and IP) and it would be trivial to add the server IP address into the NeoRouter Network Adapter as the WINS server. It seems like a logical step in the evolution of NeoRouter.

If that opens up too much with regard to the business client security boundaries, then put the WINS server in NR Explorer and allow the computer to connect with itself as a local WINS just listing computers it can see.

Anyone second this feature request?

I SECOND using local client listing only the computers it can currently see, this also provides central managment and it is a badly needed feature! Not only for the fact some programs require names not IP's, but also for scripting/automation purposes.

Others should comment on this as well to help get the ball rolling!
