Hi,

I'm getting this error while installing neorouter on windows-2003 64 bit. It is working fine on 32-Bit.

It is just giving 'An Error encountered...'. Nothing more. No prompt is coming for anything else. User has Admin rights on the system.

Attached the install log.

Regards,

Hi giteshs,

Based on your log file, I can see it failed to install the NeoRouter virtual adapter on your box for some reasons.

Generally there would be conflicts with your existing drivers.

Thanks,

Hi Kevin,

That must have been because I had CLI version of neorouter already installed (which I did as regular version was giving error). I uninstalled the same and tried installing the regular version.

I still get an error, however it does go to the Domain registration screen. I cannot register a domain after going there. It keeps on saying that Domain Cannot be created. Message is same even if I give an existing domain.

Attached the new install log file.

Regards,

Hi giteshs,

The W2K (CLI) version NR client does not support WinXP x64 and it won't install driver on your box.

If you have another x64 box (win7 x64 or something) and have NR client installed, you can try to check the current driver status by this way:

1.copy the folder ZebraNetworkSystems\NeoRouter\Driver\* to the new box

2. run comamnd

tapinstall.exe status nrtap

see if the driver got registered or not. If it's there, you can remove it manually

tapinstall.exe remove nrtap

3. for the domain issue, please double-check your OS firewall or some other anti-virus see if they block the NR server calling our website to register the domain.

Let us know if you still have problem.

Thanks,

Hi Kevin,

Actually the folder 'ZebraNetworkSystems\NeoRouter' itself is empty. It has ony one file - install log. So the drivers are not getting installed and straightaway it is going to registering the domain. Can it be an issue?

Otherwise, it is afresh install of X64-2003 and there is no other software is installed. It works fine on w7-X64 when I try there by running the installation there and starting the server.

Is there something I can do to fix it?
Thank you for the support.

Regards,

Hi giteshs,

I'm sure the issue is about the installation of the nrtap driver on your X64-2003, but I didn't figure out why, since there are various factors.

One more thing you may want to check is the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce , it must be there. If not exists, please add it.

See
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1089&p=1717&hilit=tapinstall+exe#p1717

You can try to manually install the nrtap driver and see if you can get more information.
To do this, you can copy the folder ZebraNetworkSystems\NeoRouter\Driver\* from the win7 x64 box to the X64-2003 and run the following command:

tapinstall.exe install nrtap.inf nrtap

If you just want to setup a server , you can choose to install the NR server (only, without nrclient) by choosing the checkbox in the installwizard.

Thanks,

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the response. There is some progress.
I want to start both the client and server. As mentioned by you in other posts,

- I checked - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce which exists.
- Then, I cleaned up the neorouter instalation
- I Installed the server only
- I still cannot install the client as it is giving error
- So I install the nrtap driver by the method as mentioned by copying the neorouter\driver folder and installing.

Now things are almost fine.
- server is starting
- I can logon into the domain from another computer

But I cannot logon into the server from the same computer. As the nrtap driver installation did not install the client service, it is not starting.
When I go to the Services in windows-Admin, I see NRserver, NRservice is not there.

Is there a way to do that manually?

regards,

Hi giteshs,

Thanks for your updates. The nrservice can be installed manually as well if the driver gets installed properly.

Please double-check the driver status by:
tapinstall.exe status nrtap

It would be working if it shows the message let this:
ROOT\NET\0000
Name: NeoRouter Virtual Network Interface
Driver is running.
1 matching device(s) found.

Then you can install the nrcleint service in this way:
1. copy the nrservice.exe, nrclient.exe and nrclientcmd.exe to your box
2. run a "command prompt" as an administrator and run the following command to install it
nrservice /install
Then go to the "services.msc" to check and start it
3. if need, you can remove it using
nrservice /remove

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team
