Hey,
Any plans for a FreeBSD port for the server/client ?

No plan for FreeBSD yet, unless more users request for it.

Thanks,

This will be very interesting, to have neorouter on FreeBSD. I think it will be big step for you.

Yeah, I tried to run the x86 nrserver on FreeBSD 7 but there problems with the linked SSL libraries. Spent a lot of time with linux_base-f9 , -f10, -f4 ... also tried the Fedora SSL that nrserver has been compiled with.
We are switching to a traditional VPN solution for now.

A freebsd port would be awesome. Or even some rough instructions on getting the linux version running.

I've got the fedora client installed. It gives me the below errors when trying to start the nrservice daemon. It also doesn't seem to even attempt to create a virtual interface (nrtap)

Code:
./nrservice: /lib/libssl.so.0.9.8: no version information available (required by ./nrservice)
./nrservice: /lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8: no version information available (required by ./nrservice)

I believe you can ignore the ssl warnings below.
Please make sure nrservice is run under admin. Then use nrclientcmd to log into your virtual network, then tap will start.

Thanks for the tips Luke.

I've just given it another shot and nothing seems to be happening.

Current setup, fully updated freebsd8.0-Stable.

Installed Linux Binary Compatibility as per these instructions http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO885 ... stall.html.

Installed Fedora openssl package and created appropriate symbolic links.

Installed neo-router for fedora (client).

Started nrservice directly (as root) rather than via the start script so I can see any error messages

Started nrclientcmd, entered credentials and then nothing. It tells me that it is trying to connect. But so far it has been sitting there for 30mins with no changes.

Have also tried adding the if_tap.ko kernel module but that doesn't seem to make any difference.

Anyone else had more luck than this on FreeBSD?

Owen

*I just checked top out of interest and it seems nrservice is trying to do something as it is using up all empty cpu time.

I've started a FreeBSD port for neorouter here:
https://github.com/bovine/neorouter-port

Once I test it a little more, I'll submit it for inclusion in the official FreeBSD ports system. Any feedback is welcome.
