Hello,

I am using the free version NeoRouter quite some time, and this past week, I can not access any connected computer.

Every 30-50 seconds updating the list of computers online, or NeoRouter explorer disconnects and reconnects.

I restarted the computer, service, edit the features.ini and nothing works.

This does not happen all day, seems to occur when more than n connected computers, but not n that is.

I have about 110 terminals connected to my server.

Enclosed is a tablet with all the logs today.

I am interested to know what happens, as we are thinking about buying the pro version, but we must be sure that it works.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

And my apologies for my terrible English (thanks to google for help)

Lautaro Moreira

Ups, I'm forgot,

My server is a pentium 4 with hyperthreading, with 2 gb of ram and with Xp Profesional OS.

Thanks,

Hi lautaro,

Thanks for your report.

I investigated your log files, it looks like the issue would be caused by your busy system or unstable network.

Take a look at the server's log file: NRServer_20120119_124141.log, you will find there are a lot of lines of " CHeartBeat::TimerCallback: network disconnected" and there a lot of error -2147014843. This means your network suddenly gets broken, instead of normal socket close. This would be network outage or network cable unplugged.

From the server's log file above and the nrservice log file NRService_20120119_124432.log, I found:
a. the NR client came cross the network problem with NR server at 2012-01-19 15:45:58,562 and got error "Receive hit error -2147014843". So it reconnected to the server.
b.On the server side, I can see many connection tunnels have heart beat timeout (from 2012-01-19 15:42:59 to 2012-01-19 15:44:48) and closed the sockets, including the NR client. The client finally gets released around 2012-01-19 15:44:48,500.

Similar issues can be seen in other log files as well.

So I'm guessing:

1. At the moment the CPU would be very busy and NR server is running slow, finally cause the heart beat timeout

2. Network bandwidth is not good enough for so many clients. If you don't have any traffic control software to control the network usage and some clients can use as much network bandwidth as possible. This would finally cause some other connections slow enough. Of cause, it is also depends on what application are you running over the virtual network.

3. NR Free does not have packet filtering feature, it means all broadcast packets will be sent cross your virtual network, or say the 100+ clients. This can be huge traffic. Please use some tool like ethereal to monitor the what kind of packets are passed through your network.

4. NR Free 1.5 is old, which has some critical bugs we've fixed in the latest NR Pro/Mesh. We will upgrade NR Free in a month. However, based on your log files, I didn't see your server/client hit the known bugs.

So please investigate your system and network, including CPU usage, network usage and so on. You can disable the NR heart beat mechanism by setting the parameters TcpHeartBeat=0 and UdpHeartBeat=0 in the Feature.ini file. For more information, please refer to http://www.neorouter.com/wiki/index.php ... ationFiles

Let us know if you still have problem.

Thanks,
KevinZ - NeoRouter team

Kevinz,

Hi lautaro,

Thanks for your information. If your CPU is powerful, please change the
ServerAuthBacklog=200 in Feature.ini file (server side). Default value is 10, so it will reject the concurrent connecting clients > 10.

When set to 200, it would be easier for us to find out those clients get rejected by the server.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi lautaro,

NR Pro server does not accept NR Free client.

However, NR Free server can accept NR Pro client.

Thanks,
